A Newtown based piano sales and hire company has stepped in to help out with Shropshire Drama Company’s forthcoming production of Noel Coward’s Hay Fever at Theatre Severn.
Established in 1991 and celebrating its 20th year of trading in 2011, Stuart Jones Pianos, which is one of only seven Steinway dealers in the UK, offer a comprehensive package of sales, tuning, restoration, hire and removals for pianists of all levels. The company will provide a fully-tuned grand piano as part of the stage set for Hay Fever, as Theatre Severn’s in-house instrument is already booked.
Explaining the potential predicament, Hay Fever director Rosalind Garrard said: “The play’s story line includes scenes where a piano is crucial, as well as being used during the overture and in the two intervals. With Theatre Severn’s piano already booked we were presented with a real problem. However, securing the support and expertise from Stuart and his team is a positive boost as we draw closer to the opening night.”
Director at Stuart Jones Pianos, Stuart Jones, an accomplished musician with a CD of his compositions released soon, said: “We are more than happy to help with such a significant production and wish Shropshire Drama Company every success with Hay Fever.”
Hay Fever runs from 23 to 26 March at Theatre Severn’s Walker Theatre. Tickets are £12 and £10 (concessions), available through the box office (01743 281281) and online at www.theatresevern.com.
