KING LEAR…THE STAGE IS SET!
A Shropshire drama group has secured the long-term services and a gift from a professional stage design and construction company, ahead of their summer production at this year’s Much Wenlock Festival.
Wolverhampton-based Madden Construction & Display Ltd have agreed to design and build the stage for the Shropshire County Drama Group’s (SCDG) June production of King. In addition, they are donating the structures and set up time towards future productions at no cost to the Group.
Ken Allden, Secretary of SCDG, said: “For a long time the Group has had a very strong reputation locally. That reputation for quality theatre is now spreading further a field, attracting sponsorship such as this from Madden Construction. This very generous gift marks a further increase in the growth of SCDG towards higher and higher levels of professionalism. It provides, not only literally, a firm base upon which to build the forthcoming production of King Lear and beyond.”
King Lear will be performed at the Much Wenlock Festival from Monday 14 June until Saturday 19 June 2004. Tickets, which start at £8.00 with discounts for concessions, students, families and group bookings, are available from The Music Hall Shrewsbury 01743 281281 or Tourist Information Office, Bridgnorth 01746 763257.
