A recent non-stop reading of scenes based on the theme of marriage from Shakespeare’s plays has raised £350 for Severn Hospice.
The event entitled ‘The Merry Wives of Shropshire’, took place in The Square, Shrewsbury, at the end of April, where members of Shropshire Drama Company’s cast for its forthcoming production of The Merry Wives of Windsor and friends from other drama groups across Shropshire, undertook the challenge.
SDC member and event organiser Joanna Purslow said: “It was a fun day and the weather was kind to us. We were very pleased with our cash total which has now been passed on to Severn Hospice. We would like to offer a special thanks to the various drama groups involved and of course to the public for their generous donations.”
The Merry Wives of Windsor takes place from 11 to 16 June at Much Wenlock Festival. Tickets are available to book online at www.muchwenlockfestival.co.uk.
